Bangkok's emergence as a major global tailoring destination is a relatively recent phenomenon, built substantially over the past 40 years around the city's booming international tourism industry.

Built for the visitor

Because much of Bangkok's tailoring clientele has historically been travellers rather than local repeat customers, the industry developed a distinctive speciality: full bespoke garments completed within days rather than the weeks or months typical elsewhere.

A wide-ranging industry

Bangkok's rapid growth as a tailoring destination also produced a highly competitive, quality-varied market — alongside genuinely skilled hand-tailoring houses, the city has many operations built primarily around volume and price.
